The decision guide
Desire, Temptation, Hedonism — the names blur together, and the brochures are no help because every one of them promises the same fantasy. The differences that actually matter are simple, and they decide everything. Here's the honest map, so you book the right resort the first time.
1. Couples-only, or singles allowed? Desire is couples-only. Temptation welcomes singles. Hedonism allows singles (with limits).
2. Topless, or fully nude? Temptation is topless-only. Desire and Hedonism are fully clothing-optional.
3. Party, or retreat? Temptation and Hedonism lean party; Desire Pearl leans retreat; Desire Riviera Maya sits in between.
Answer those three and your resort picks itself. The detail below shows how.
| Resort | Who | Dress | Vibe | Where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Desire Riviera Maya | Couples only | Nude / C-O | Lively, social | Riviera Maya |
| Desire Pearl | Couples only | Nude / C-O | Quiet, refined | Riviera Maya |
| Temptation | Singles + couples | Topless only | Party-first | Cancún hotel zone |
| Hedonism II | Singles + couples* | Nude / C-O | Wild, "original" | Negril, Jamaica |
*Hedonism restricts single-male bookings.
The original Desire and the livelier of the two — couples-only, fully clothing-optional, with a buzzing pool and jacuzzi scene, the strongest nightlife, and the famous Playroom. The best first-timer pick if you want an easy, social atmosphere where the scene finds you.
Read the full review →The quieter, more grown-up Desire next door — smaller, calmer, with bigger suite-style rooms, a larger pool and hot tub, and a romantic-retreat pace. The upgrade pick on rooms and service, and the better fit for returning couples or a special occasion.
Read the full review →The sexy, theme-party resort in the Cancún hotel zone — and the one that welcomes singles, including single men. Crucially, it's topless-only, not nude. Great for a charged, social party energy without full nudity; not the place for a quiet couples-only retreat.
Read the full review →The original, half-century-old clothing-optional institution — bigger, wilder and more basic than the Mexico resorts, with a famous prude-side / nude-side split and a loyal, mature crowd. Go for the freedom and the legend, not the thread count.
Read the full review →→ Desire Riviera Maya. The social energy makes the whole experience legible fast. Or, if full nudity feels like a step too far for a first trip, Temptation (topless-only) is the gentler on-ramp.
→ Desire Pearl. The retreat, not the party.
→ Temptation is the only one of these built to welcome singles (Hedonism allows them but limits single men).
→ Hedonism II. Nothing else has its history or its reputation.
→ Our Desire Riviera Maya vs. Desire Pearl comparison settles it.
