Resort review · Cancún, Mexico
It's the sexy, loud, theme-party resort in the Cancún hotel zone — and the one open-minded resort that lets singles in the door. But there's a catch most people get wrong: Temptation is topless, not nude. Here's exactly what that means, what the place is really like, and how it differs from its sister resort Desire.
Temptation Cancún is an adults-only (21+), all-inclusive, topless-optional party resort on the Cancún hotel-zone beach. It's high-energy, theme-night-driven, and — unusually — welcomes singles, including single men.
It is not a nude resort and not couples-only. If you want full clothing-optional and an intimate, couples-only lifestyle setting, you want Desire. If you want a flirty, sexy, social party where the tops come off at the pool and the nights get wild, Temptation is exactly that.
This is the most common Temptation mix-up, so let's settle it. Temptation is topless-optional: bikini tops are optional in designated areas — the Sexy Pool, the Quiet Pool and the beach — but full nudity is not permitted anywhere, and normal attire is required for dining and indoors. People search "is Temptation Cancún nude" all the time; the answer is no. That's the bright line between Temptation and its fully clothing-optional cousins, Desire and Hedonism.
Almost every resort in this space is couples-only. Temptation isn't — it explicitly welcomes singles, including single men. That single policy choice shapes everything: the crowd is a genuine mix of couples and solo travelers, the energy is more "sexy social party" than "couples retreat," and it's a natural first step for people who don't have a partner to bring to a couples-only resort.
They share a parent company and get confused constantly. They're opposites in all the ways that matter:
| Temptation Cancún | Desire (Riviera Maya / Pearl) | |
|---|---|---|
| Dress | Topless-optional (no nudity) | Fully clothing-optional / nude |
| Who | Singles & couples, 21+ | Couples-only, 21+ |
| Where | Cancún hotel zone (~20 min from CUN) | Puerto Morelos / Riviera Maya (~30–45 min) |
| Energy | Loud, party-first, theme nights | Intimate, sensual, lifestyle-focused |
| Vibe word | Playground | Retreat |
The heart of Temptation by day is the Sexy Pool — the topless-optional social hub, with pool bars, music, and the day's contests and games. There's also a calmer Quiet Pool with Jacuzzis for when you want to dial it down. The energy is flirtatious and extroverted; this is a resort that wants you out and mingling, not hiding on your balcony.
Temptation was rebuilt in a major remodel and reopened in its current form with a bold, design-forward look (think sleek, sensual, modern). Rooms span several categories from garden-view up through ocean-front suites with balcony Jacuzzis, plus a separate, more upscale tower for couples who want extra polish and quiet. It's a genuinely modern product — a contrast to the older, more basic feel of Hedonism.
After dark the resort revolves around Bash, the open-air nightclub, plus nightly theme parties (lingerie, glow, masquerade and the like), pool parties with guest DJs, foam parties, fashion shows, contests and risqué stage shows. If a packed nightly entertainment calendar is your idea of a great vacation, Temptation over-delivers. If you want quiet evenings, this is the wrong resort — and that's not a knock, it's just the design.
It's a short hop from Cancún airport (CUN) — price flights first, then lock the room. Our planner has live flight & hotel search built in.
Temptation is all-inclusive with a buffet plus several specialty restaurants (including its signature aphrodisiac dinner-show venue) and a clutch of bars. Service touches — pool butlers, a "whatever, whenever" ethos — are a plus. The honest caveats from guests: dining quality divides opinion for the nightly price, the DJ playlists can feel repetitive, it gets loud near Bash (especially in the busy Feb–March window), and the beach is unremarkable by Cancún standards. There's also a strict guest photo policy (no wide shots) to protect everyone's privacy — a feature, not a bug, for this crowd.
Go if: you're a single (especially a single man who can't book couples-only resorts), a first-timer who wants the sexy energy without full nudity, or an extroverted couple who lives for theme nights and a party.
Skip it if: you want quiet and romance, a fully nude or clothing-optional experience, or an intimate couples-only setting — in which case Desire (couples-only, nude, Riviera Maya) is your resort, not this one.
Book through the official Temptation site for the best rates, room choice and promos; it's also on the major OTAs. As with all of these resorts, certain weeks run hotter (and louder) than others, so it's worth checking what's on your dates before committing.
Topless-optional, not nude — and only in designated areas (the pools and beach). Full nudity isn't permitted.
